Where should I start?
First, I want to say the facial expressions match with the characters and the atmosphere brilliantly. Babs is achieving zen, Sweetie is beaming wth excitement, Scoot is daring the world to slow her down, and AB is simply her happy self.
The white background isn't bland. Crucial element made use of correctly. If it were any other color, it would be a common background; black, and the message of the image is lost; being white, it brings out a heartwarming sensation and positive feelings. Like the feeling they can conquer anything together.
I'm use to the usual Flash style when it comes to MLP art, but there are several exceptions that easily grab the eye. This is one of them, with the bright colors and cuteness that is my weakness.
Originality: Well, Babs is a new addition to the cast, so I can call this one of the first originals.

In a nutshell, superb work! Great use of white background, shading, emotion, facial expression, the whole shebang. Looking at this image brings this music track to mind [link] We may have blank flanks, but that doesn't mean we don't have a special talent. Together, we'll get our cutie-marks, even if we have to travel the world thrice to discover them.

Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to more of your pieces!

Now THIS is an example of a white background used for a good purpose. Most works I've seen that uses a white background don't tend to use it for an actual reason, and their works end up being a little more boring than necessary.

While this is a speedpaint and all, but the faces are pillow shaded. While technically, that's a term that google suggests is only brought up with pixel art, but frankly, I think it ought to also be applicable in non-pixel works. A lot of the shading here looks like lighted up areas that get darker as it approaches an edge of a shape. This sort of shading doesn't really appear in real life that often, unless you clearly have a light source very, very close in front of an object. Only then will pillow shading be correct.

The shading in general looks pretty lumpy too. One area I can point at is if you were to look at this colored area I've outlined here:

[link]

^That is what my image editor gets if I were to tell it to select this area of solid color. Areas of solid colors can very easily convey a flat shape, or at the least conveys a plane that is similarly angled from a light source. Let's say that we're gonna have a light source in front of Applebloom's face. The areas to our right from the middle of Applebloom's forehead to her ear, ought to be shaded.

Also be aware that a mare and filly's nose in 3/4ths perspective is actually a side-view nose. If you get deeper into giving ponies actual form, this subtle mistake from FiM-style is gonna make your works look kind of off without realizing it. Your pony proportions are mostly spot on except for this mistake on the show's part.

I also think it wouldn't hurt to have rounder irises, rounder eyes, and rounder pupils. Applebloom's ear ought to be more round I also think the composition could probably benefit from cutting off the extra space on top.

Overall, great use of a white background, and your proportions are mostly accurate. However, a deeper understanding of lighting and shading could make this more convincing.
